Halogen have compiled a chilled-out living room atmospheric type of EP that is complemented by sweet vocals and morning sun-rise type guitar playing. This new release is called Baby`s Eyes, which is a five track EP, a precede to the forthcoming complete album.

“If love is your fear, then don`t try to fight me”, are the first few words we hear on this record from the title track, and this is only a tinge of what is to come from this beautifully poignant band. The tracks I Get Lonely and Neon Light bring an element of sadness and melancholy to the EP. “Darling, if you`ll have me, I could be your angel”, sums up I Get Lonely quite well.

Neon Light glows incandescently with an aura of levitating bliss, particularly when Jasmine Yee sings things like, “Only love can rectify a broken heart as if it never broke”. This is one of several tracks that are purely heartfelt and brimming with the dark romanticism that Halogen behold. Save The Ones You Love was actually the title of their 2002 album release. “The pouring rain beating down a while…I lie here suspicious”, there is also another mention of angels amongst some truly feel good woe-soothing guitar and neat drumming.

The poetry possessed by Aussie band Halogen influences their tracks in a sensual kind of way and Neon Light sounds strikingly similar to another contemporary Australian act by the name of George. Jasmine and band present five tracks of down- tempo mellowing tracks that shine and glisten their way into the soul. Cool and captivating, Halogen have introduced themselves to the ears in a very soothing and non confronting kind of way. This EP seems to glide over the airwaves it produces and finds its way to the listener through swirls of layered softness.

The rain pours down and angelic shrouded vocals/ lyrics resonate from Jasmine as her band constantly reassure the listener that the forecast in the state of Halogen may seem grey all the time, but the sun does tend to shine through. Particularly comforting tracks such as Neon Light, Baby`s Eyes and the cold comfort of All The Stars makes Halogen stand out from the darkness and find illumination through the ears.
