Whilst he spends most of his days trying to impart knowledge on the youth of today, by night, Stephen Box, Canberra editor, is all about the rock. Having been FasterLouder's main Canberra contributor for the last two years he steps into the role of state editor. "My goals are simple," says Steve, "build up a solid base of contributors here in the National Capital, then sit back and watch the quality writing and photographs flood in."
In the past Steve has not only written for FasterLouder, but also been a regular contributor for The Canberra Times' Fly supplement, contributed the odd review to FasterLouder's sister site InTheMix and even written for the ill fated teen boy mag Explode. "Of the many music writers out there the one's I admire the most are people like The Australian's Ian Shedden, Rolling Stone's Craig Matheson and the ultimate rock word nerd, Melbourne's Clem Bastow."
Steve comes to the FasterLouder team with a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Grad Dip in Science Communication and a Dip Ed, in all an excuse for spending too many years at the ANU Bar watching bands. His music taste is eclectic, "this year I reckon I've seen three standout sets - The Stooges at the Big Day Out, Les Savy Fav at St Jeromes' Laneway Festival and Sigor Ros at The Great Escape." Steve's all time Top Five albums in no particular order are - Miles Davis, Kind of Blue; Tool, Aenima; The Who, Who's Next; The Smashing Pumkins, Siamese Dream; and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
