Perth duo The Transients make a run for the Garage to V title – do the pair have what it takes to beat out the bigger acts for a spot in the Grand Final and a chance to play mainstage at V? FL nails the pair with some pointed questions…

The Transients are a duo out of Perth consisting of Robert Maszkowski and Béla Inkster.

Was music always an important part of your life?
Yes. Ever since we can remember. Girls and music!!!

What’s your earliest musical memory?
For Bela it is playing a Casio keyboard when he was 7. Robert’s is sitting in the back of a car travelling through Greece at the age of 8, listening to A-ha’s “Take On Me” on repeat. Ah, great days…

How would you describe your band’s music?
Electro pop to be technical, but we prefer to describe it as “totally 100% awesome to the max” .

What are your musical influences?
We have a huge variety of influences spanning pop, electro, disco, punk, rock, rnb, and anything else we may have missed.

Who are you most looking forward to seeing at the V Festival?
God, where do we start? The line-up is massive. We’d love to catch everything.

If you win Garage to V what would you have in your rider?
12,764 M&M’s (but no yellow ones), and a bottle of vodka.

What artist would you want to share a sneaky backstage pash with at the V fest?
After extensive deliberation, we decided that we’d let Roisin Murphy pash us.
Why? She’s a bit of alright ;)

Who would you like to share a dressing room with and why?
Roisin Murphy again – for the same reason.

What’s the key ingredient for having at great day at V festival?
Having a great group of friends with you.

How important are competitions like Garage to V in the ongoing success of your band?
Opportunities like this don’t come around very often and only one band can win so for us to be on that stage would be a massive boost for the band. We’d love to take it as far as we can.

Any additional info:
The Transients are up against Pendulum at this year’s WAMI Awards for ‘Best Electronic Act’.
